We’re talking about Operation Christmas Child all this November on my Twitch stream, and building shoeboxes for needy children. (And you can help with our goal by building one online.) The devotionals this week are taken from a booklet called ” 5 Days of Devotionals to Guide You and Your Kids Through the OCC Experience”, written by Liz Millay. The booklet can be downloaded from her blog “Steadfast Family” at this link: https://www.steadfastfamily.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/OCC-Mini-Devotional-1.pdf These are the focus verses for those devotionals.
Day 1: Acts 20:35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
Day 2: Luke 18:16-17 16 But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 17 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
Day 3: Matthew 25:35-40 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Day 4: Hebrews 13:16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Day 5: Matthew 28:18-20 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
