The Bible has a lot to say about believers being ready for eternity, but what about preparedness here on earth? It seems that we should be prudent in our physical preparations for hardship and danger, spiritually prepared for tribulations (being comforted by our faith), and mentally prepared for the deceits of the world. Consider these verses.
Proverbs 21:20 Precious treasure and oil are in a wise man’s dwelling, but a foolish man devours it.
Proverbs 22:3 The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.
John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Colossians 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.
