God Is Kind

“Attributes of Love” Series Introduction:  1 John 4:8 tells us that “God is love”, and 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 lists the attributes of love. So in this series, we’re going to discuss each of the attributes in those verses, one by one, to learn more about the nature of God.

God Is Kind

Psalm 69:16 Answer me, O Lord, for Your loving kindness is good; turn Your face to me according to the abundance of Your tender mercies.

Psalm 119:76 Let your Your loving kindness comfort me according to your promise to your servant.

Ephesians 2:4-7 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and He raised us up and seated us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
God is kind. He provides what we need, He cares about our troubles, and He wants for us to be safe in Him. When He sent His son to die in our place, taking our sins to the grave, that was the ultimate act of kindness.
He calls us to be kind, too.

Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

God is Love, and Love is Kind. In our kindness, we show the world Love, and we show them the character of our God.

Lord, help me remember today that every act of kindness represents my God to the world. Show me the opportunities, the ones that are always right in front of me, to be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving to those around me. Help my kindness turn their eyes toward you.
